Sensear smartPlugR-IS is an in-ear hearing protection solution designed to enhance two-way radio communications in high-noise environments. It is powered by your two-way radio, which removes the need for a battery inside the unit, and it requires a radio cable for connection. The headset type is in-ear (ear plugs), and the product is listed with an IP54 rating.

This model pairs Sensear’s patented SENS® technology with a noise-suppression microphone to support communication while helping users maintain 360° audible situational awareness of their surroundings. It is intended for face-to-face communication in noise levels under 90 dB and for two-way radio communication through a radio cable with Push-To-Talk module. The volume limiter is programmable at 82 dB(A), and the product includes disposable foam or silicone ear tip options.

The smartPlugR-IS also includes practical updates such as a larger, more ergonomic Push-to-Talk module for improved tactile button presses and a detachable earpiece assembly that allows multiple users to share the base unit on consecutive shifts. A rugged design with belt clip is listed for easier wear in high-noise industrial environments, and the product is noted as ideal for use with respirators.

For hazardous locations, the intrinsically safe version is certified to TIA-4950-A, CSA C22.2 No.157.92, and UL 913 5th Edition. The product description also states that the IS option is intended for explosive environments requiring UL, CSA, and TIA certification. Hearing protection performance is listed as up to 31 dB NRR, up to 38 dB SNR, and up to 28 dB SLC80 Class 5 for the foam tip, with the silicone tip listed at 19 dB Class 3, 32 dB SNR, and 24 dB / 21-35 dB NRR values in the provided specifications.
